Help, I Found My Soul Mate!

Help, I Found My Soul Mate!Soul mate compatibility, it’s not all what it’s cracked up to be. It’s much more likely to be a case of “Help, I’ve found my soul mate!” ? This is because the 7th house is not just the house of marriage, it is also the house of open enemies. It is also opposed the 1st house of the physical self. Therefore the supposed “Soul mate” relationship is very often a tug of war on many levels.
What may feel destined could also be a number of things. The beloved could be reflecting strongly back to you your animus or anima, what you are lacking in your chart, what you have disowned in your chart or – when the relationship turns sour – your worst demons.
Squares and challenging aspects between a couple are karmic aspects and can be extremely challenging. These will usually enable you to “fast-track” your spiritual evolution by burning off a ton of ingrained karma. Often a soul mate comes into your life simply to do this, but it does not mean it is life long. Negative karma from the past can attract you even more strongly than positive karma. Hence those impossible, gut- wrenching, and often unrequited love affairs.
I don’t believe an Astrologer can or should ever tell you “This is THE one”. It could be “A” one however, and they can certainly show you exactly why you have been pulled together. You will also be able to see why you find it so hard to break up even if the relationship is making you miserable. Usually these are Moon/Saturn contacts.
Looking at the charts individually first is crucial to see what each person can handle in a relationship. Some people just cannot take too much drama, others would be bored without it. Some may need a very cosy domestic 24/7 togetherness, while others crave space, so that a long distance romance might actually suit. Therefore it’s really rather pointless saying “Oh my Sun is conjunct his Moon, we are destined!” if one of you is a thrill seeker and the other likes vegging infront of the TV.
Relationships are the best teacher and with Synastry we can certainly see what type of lessons you are learning from each other. There are 3 ways to do this, and that is through casting the Composite, Davison and Draconic charts.
One of the most illuminating things to look out for, is when the partners important planets or points make a conjunction with the Sun, Moon, AC, Nodes or Vertex in the Composite or Davison. It shows how important the relationship is for each of them. It will reveal if one is more attached to the union than the other.

The Composite Chart
So what of these relationship charts? The 1st one to look at is the Composite. This is a theoretical chart based on the midpoints of the planets and points of each horoscope. It describes how the two people will function and an entity, as a couple.

Marina & Jamie
As an example, we have Saturn on the Ascendant in our composite chart, so we find our selves working together in the same business. We have our issues with delays and restraints, but also have the endurance to make it work. Jamie likes to look at this to see if any transits or lunations are effecting or will effect it in the future. Useful if you are having problems. This can show whether it could be a passing phase or something more irreconcilable
Saturn can act like glue in relationship astrology. Aspects from the composite chart to the individual chart will also give clues as to how each person functions within the relationship, who is the boss (Saturn, or the Sun), who is the nurturer or self-sacrificing (Moon or Neptune) or who is driving it forward (Mars).

The Davison Chart
The Davison chart takes the midpoint in time between the couples birth-date. The co-ordinates are also half way. This is Marina’s specialty. Because this chart actually exists physically, one can take into account the fixed stars. This chart describes why you have been brought together, what lessons you have to learn in this lifetime.
It’s basically your exam timetable. Adding the fixed stars, you can sometimes get a very clear picture of the past lives and karma that brought the couple together. With Soulmates it is usually very obvious. Symbols and themes will keep repeating themselves and a story will come out. The Tarot which is looked at with the Nodes will often confirm this.
It is very important to look at the connections from the Davison to the couples natal charts. Strong indicators of many lives together and/or a karmic mission will be confirmed if the couple have conjunctions to the big 3 (Sun/Moon/AC). We have found the Nodes and the Vertex very important also.
For example the big stand out theme in our own Davison is the fact our tight North Node/Vertex conjunction in our synastry falls on the Sun of the Davison. That on its own that would be enough. In the Davison chart the big feature is that the Sun is tightly opposed the Moon (27′) which means our SouthNode/Anti-Vertex falls across that opposition making it all the more potent.
So this Sun opposite Moon is is the central rode of a Kite where the Moon trines both Chiron (Astrology) on Scheat - Love Of Intellect and Jupiter (Religion) parallel Zosma - Ability to Prophesy. Pegasus is symbolic for us and its a re-occurring theme as you can see throughout our blog. Of course air flight is fundamental to our long distance relationship. The whole Kite describes our challenges in this lifetime very well!9
The star the Sun is on can explain things further, it is conjunct Mirfak in Perseus. Brady says it is young male energy, proud of his strength and fighting abilities. (Mohammid Ali, Martin Luther- King and Thatcher are mentioned in connection with it.) She says it’s not an area where one would listen to wisdom or take caution. It may well be our strength, but could equally mean we over-estimate our capabilities.
The lesson we have to learn is to be less “Gung Ho!” This has indeed got us into trouble at times…The rising star in the chart will show our souls journey and the impression we give to others. Its very important to have an accurate birthtime for this, as the star will change if it’s out by aprox 30 mins. Ours is Biham on the face of our friend Pegasus. So you can see there is a clear theme here. The important Sun star Perseus is connected to Pegasus through Medusa. Perseus slayed Medusa (The Lilith Star no less!) and Pegasus was born out of her blood.
Our Astrology – Chiron is on Scheat the Alpha star of Pegasus. We do reach for the stars with how we work, and we need to hold firm and not waver in the face of opposition (Very often with us from traditional astrologers and skeptics.) lest we fall like Bellerophon. We need to rise above the criticism, while at the same time Scheat warns not over-reach ourselves.

The Draconic Chart
Looking deeper still Jamie likes to look at Draconic charts. These take you further back in time. Sometimes there will not be a great deal of information there as the couple may not have known each other for many lifetimes if any. We tend to comment on these only if there is something there.
The great seer Edgar Cayce gave information on the horoscopes of his clients. Astrologers had a hard time knowing what he was talking about until it was discovered that he was “seeing” their Draconic charts. The Draconic chart is worked out by making the North Node zero Aries. This is the real deep soul centered astrology. It is especially useful in relationship astrology when comparing each Draconic chart to the natal and composite charts.
The key to understanding deep roots of the relationship can be found in this method. It ties the whole process together and gives a very clear picture, reinforcing the major themes uncovered by the previous stages of investigation. As an example, the Saturn theme in our relationship highlighted when comparing our Draconic charts in synastry. My Ascendant is conjunct Jamie’s Saturn, and Jamie’s Ascendant is conjunct my Saturn. “Souls bound together”.
